Role Summary
We’re looking for a Product Manager who is both strategic and execution-minded, with a passion for building meaningful, user-centred financial products. You’ll play a key role in shaping the roadmap of our wealth platform, working closely with the Head of Product, Design, Engineering, Data, Growth, and Operations to deliver an accessible and inclusive investing experience for all Kiwis. You’ll have the opportunity to drive product strategy, own outcomes end-to-end, and, if desired, grow into a leadership role as our team expands.
What you’ll be doing
- Owning product outcomes for a core area of Kernel’s platform—from problem discovery through to delivery, adoption, and iteration.
- Defining and prioritising a clear, data-informed roadmap that advances Kernel’s mission and business goals while improving customer outcomes.
- Leading discovery: conducting user interviews, synthesising insights, mapping journeys, and validating hypotheses with prototypes and experiments.
- Collaborating with Design and Engineering to define pragmatic, highly-usable solutions; writing crisp product requirements, acceptance criteria, and success metrics.
- Partnering with Data to define and monitor KPIs and funnels; using qualitative and quantitative insights to guide decisions and measure impact.
- Championing accessibility, inclusion, and financial literacy throughout the product development process.
- Coordinating go-to-market with Marketing, Customer Support, and Compliance; ensuring features ship with the right messaging, education, and support.
- Contributing to and leveraging Kernel’s design system and platform capabilities to deliver consistent, scalable experiences.
- Building strong relationships with customers to deeply understand their needs, behaviours, and pain points, especially across new-to-investing cohorts.
- Helping to foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture; mentoring junior PMs or cross-functional partners as we grow.
What we’d like to see
- Significant experience as a Product Manager shipping customer-facing digital products, ideally in fintech, consumer subscriptions, or marketplaces.
- A strategic, outcome-focused mindset with a track record of moving key metrics and influencing product direction.
